Telling our New Brunswick story to our children and the world
Odette is both a co-author and the illustrator for Follow the Goose Butt, Camelia Airheart! She is also an illustrator of nature-themed
guidebooks, such as the Beach Guide to Fundy National Park and the Forest Guide to Fundy National Park. Her passion and inspiration
for her art comes from her love of nature and the environment.
Odette worked for many years in the out-of-doors as an interpretive
naturalist with both Parks Canada and the Canadian Wildlife Service before turning to teaching in the traditional indoor classroom.
While working as an outdoor educator, Odette also applied her artistic talents in designing and illustrating many educational materials
Later, she spent 10 years teaching Inuit students, eventually becoming a school principal, in what is now the
arctic territory of Nunavut. Presently, Odette teaches in New Brunswick’s Anglophone School District-East. She writes, develops, and
facilitates online science courses for senior high students throughout the province. Over the years, Odette has written and designed
biology, environmental science, chemistry, and physical geography courses, to name a few!
She and her fellow co-authors are working
on a Camelia Airheart picture book prequel called Take off to Tantramar.
Besides enjoying many outdoor pursuits, drawing and
painting (all art, really!), Odette loves to read, write and sing. When she has time, she rides her horse at a local stable. Odette
and her partner live wonderful lives on the shore of the beautiful Northumberland Strait in southeast New Brunswick.
