Maya and Mitaine: From Saint John to Paris
Born in in 1987, Joanie Duguay is originally from Pointe-Alexandre, on Lamèque Island, NB. She is very active in artistic pursuits, and she distinguished herself in the 2005 Radio Canada contest, J’écoute, J’écris!, with her poem “Devenir”. In 2006, she won the Antonine-Maillet-Acadie-Vie literary prize in the Prix volet Jeunesse Richelieu catergory for new literature for “L’homme à la valise rouge” which was published in the franco-Ontario Review, Virages, in 2009.

Her first children’s novel Puce et la mystérieuse coccinellewas published by Bouton d’or Acadie in 2012. Maya and Mitaine: From Saint John to Paris is a translation of Maya et Mitaine: De Saint-Jean à Paris which was published by Bouton d'or in 2014.

Her first picture book Zim s’imagine was released by Bouton d’or in 2016. Joanie currently lives in Saint John, NB where she devotes her time to teaching and writing.
